About
A Brief History of Friends of Bryn Y Maen
In 2002, the 8 RSPCA Branches served by RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre at that time decided they would establish a "Friends Group" to raise funds for the Centre. An executive committee was established comprising the Manager of the Centre, an appointed representative of each of the Branches -Aberconwy. Colwyn Bay, Meirionnydd, Montgomery and Radnor. Vale of Clwyd, West Gwynedd, Wrexham District and Deeside and Ynys Môn Anglesey together with three appointed members of the Friends Group. Since then, Colwyn Bay and Vale of Clwyd have merged to become RSPCA Clwyd and Colwyn. West Gwynedd merged with Merinonnydd but retained the name RSPCA West Gwynedd Branch.
2018 saw some major changes to the committee of the Friends of RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen with the relocation of Trish & Albert Macmullan from Montgomery to West Sussex. Trish is a founder member of the Friends and had been Chairman for many years. Likewise, Albert has also been involved from the start and Treasurer for many years. Both have been stalwarts in committee and at the annual Dog Show at the Centre and are sorely missed. They have promised to continue supporting the Friends in absentia and that promise of support was very valuable to the novices organising the Dog Show in May 2019.
At the meeting held in November 2018, Kathy Taylor of RSPCA Ynys Môn - Anglesey Branch agreed to being nominated and was elected as Chairman, Alun Rees was elected as Treasurer. Ann Rees continued in her role as Secretary. Tabitha Adair King agreed to continue as our President. Vicky Williams returned to the Centre after maternity leave and re-joined us at committee meetings.
